Resident Evil AFTERLIFE Movie Review by Chinook the Ferret

Resident Evil: Afterlife is the fourth Hollywood installment based on the hit zombie video game.   There is supposed to be one final sequel of the zombie franchise coming out in 2016 but so far this is one of my favorites.  When I watch movie sequels, I determine if there are recast or interruptions in the storyline. As a movie goer that is my pet peeve. I do not want to be Annie Wilkes in “Misery” upset and stand up in the movie theatre and say, “what’s the matter with you people? That is not what happened? He didn’t get out of the COCKADOODIE CAR!” Storyline and the timeline must be correct because the fans are watching for flaws. Afterlife picks up where 2007’s Extinction left off, with dozens of Milla Jovovich clones promising to seek revenge on the nefarious virus-developing Umbrella Corporation, its filmmakers have basically just pushed the reset button which is fine with me. The ended that storyline.

As the movie progresses you can quickly tell who is going to be the hero and the villain in our cast of characters and who is going to be zombie food. Some say this movie is not up to speed but I will admit I have looked forward to this installment and enjoyed it more then the last. The last time I saw a 3D movie was “Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare” and let’s just say filmmakers have come a long way since the days of “Freddy Vision”. This movie in 3D is awesome and I found myself jerking my head at exploding debris as it felt like it was literally popping out of the movie screen.

Alice played by Jovovich and a small band of the uninfected slay staved zombies with overwhelming firepower and Matrix-inspired acrobatics. Resident Evil is a true zombie franchise — and I’m not referring to its actual walking undead. Afterlife is slow-moving but relentless, and judging from a post-credits teaser that promises yet another sequel, it has an unquenchable appetite for your brain cells. This is a good zombie flick and action packed movie that I recommend to everyone. Do not expect this movie to be at the Oscars or a zombie getting the best feast award, it is what is, a great horror/ action movie! Grab some popcorn, take off your serious hat and have a good time and escape the true horrors of everyday life.

About Chinook the Ferret

Clucko Films started out making goofy childhood Super 8 films with family and friends in the early 1980's and over the years morphed to into VHS movies and later into internet videos. Perhaps, I kept the name Clucko Films as a reminder of who I was once was. After all, life is not a destination but a journey. Chinook the Ferret was the last star of the infamous Clucko Films, our beloved pet passed away February 22, 2012 . He was just a lovable critter and was loved by all especially me. Chinook had inspired me in so many ways in life and in death and is the reason I have resumed my passion for writing. Thank you for visiting my site.
